Latest news and events concerning Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) and IBR eradication programmes.

IBR control in France

Since the ministerial decree of the 27th November 2006, all farms have to apply the following prophylactic measures with respect to the IBR:

1. Yearly testing for all bovines older than 24 months
2. Testing of all bovines introduced to a farm between 15 days before and 14 after introduction. This procedure will be carried out regardless of the age fo the animal
3. Vaccination of seropositive animals

The decree mentioned already possible exemptions from this test. The official communication of the 31 01 2007 specifies the conditions of application of this obligatory disease prevention (methods of analysis, exemptions...).

BoHV-1 eradication: one step closer

On the 29th and 30th of May the symposium "BoHV-1 eradication: one step closer" took place in the city of Berlin. This event was organized by Intervet in collaboration with the Free University of Berlin. Opinion leaders from several European countries gathered to discuss the status of BoHV-1 eradication in Europe and assess the different approaches that currently are being proposed and implemented to achieve this objective.
