IBR-free certification:
There are currently two ways to achieve IBR-free certification:
Individual blood sampling: Blood samples are collected from all animals older then 1 year and they are tested for the presence of gE antibodies. A farm is certified IBR-free if all animals that test gE positive are removed from the farm and the animals younger than 1 year didn't have contact with animals of other not IBR-free farm.
Bulk milk testing: During a period of 2 years bulk milk testing for the presence of gE antibodies is carried out at least 9 times a year. If the samples are negative during all this time then only animals older then 6 years and animals bought from farm that are not certified IBR-free are individually tested. If all gE positive animals are removed from the farm then the farm is certified IBR-free.
Vaccination: Only IBR marker vaccines are allowed (live and inactivated).
